  HEALING

Crawling out of my black hole
I see sunlight and feel warmth on my face.
My tears begin to dry outside
and the buds deep within my heart
begin to absorb the moisture
and feel the desire to bloom again.

My heart begins again to swell
with the life that felt drained away
as I shriveled up inside myself
only days ago.

I did not want to go on then,
yet now I see the road
continues before me,
and I again begin
my journey away from darkness
into the light,
away from death toward life,
with one step at a time,
at first stumbling,
but maybe tomorrow walking again.
